From Judaism to Jesus Christ Part 10
Entering the Temple of the Lord
By Nancy Goldberg Hilton
Temples have been around a long time. Moses had a tabernacle, Solomon built a beautiful temple, and Jesus taught at the temple in Jerusalem. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints builds temples all over the world that connect us to our families eternally and prepares us to eventually live with God.
One year after my baptism, I received a recommend to enter the temple or House of the Lord. I felt like an ancient Israelite walking into a true temple of God. My mind felt at peace. I could feel the Spirit of the Lord surround and comfort me. I was now part of His great and eternal work and knew that His temple was sacred.
Why was this important to a Jewish girl?
Because the temple is the fulfillment of God’s covenant with us. The power of Elijah to seal on earth and in the heaven was given to our living Prophet who ordained special men in the Church with authority to unite or seal families forever.
It is where I can receive the greatest blessings of God through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. They are places of learning and provide ordinances necessary to enable me to return to dwell with Him, if I am faithful. It is a place of peace and revelation.
I go often.
