Can Money Buy Happiness?

Can Money Buy Happiness?
A short story by Nancy Hilton

What can money buy?
It can buy clothes and cars.
But can it buy harmony and peace?
It can buy houses and planes?
But can it buy love and affection?
It can buy watches and diamonds.
But can it buy solitude and security?
It can buy alarm systems and cameras.
But can it stop fear and hatred?
It can buy furniture and computers.
But can it buy fulfillment and friends?
It can buy all kinds of things that will make us happy.
But does it work?
It can buy a seat at the symphony.
But will you enjoy the music?
It can buy a plane to fly you anywhere.
But will you enjoy the trip?
It can buy you a party where everyone drinks and eats their fill.
But are they your friends?
It can buy you clothes and expensive perfume.
But do you smell as sweet as the rose growing in your garden?
It can buy companionship and nursing care.
But is there anyone to sit by your side and ease your pain?
It can buy the things of this world.
But what doesn’t it buy?
It can buy you a perfect life!
Are you sure?
