He Cared

From God’s Wakeup Call
There was a rabbit, soft and white. It hopped around in a circle, crinkling its nose and looking everywhere. What was he searching for? For an instant he glanced up and saw me. Suddenly he hopped over and nudged my foot with his nose.
How sweet, I thought — just a cute little bunny. He wrinkled his nose, sat up on his hind legs, and listened. His ears perked and his eyes looked at me expectantly, full of yearning. What could I possibly say or do for this little creature? He was so pretty and gentle — so kind to come over and keep me company.
How did he know I was lonely? I had never seen a rabbit be friendly; I always saw them hopping away in fright. This one seemed to be there just for me. Do you suppose he could tell I needed someone to comfort me and distract me from my sadness?
The rabbit brushed my leg with his paw, then sat up and waited again. I thought: this is truly a miracle. I wondered if God could hear my pain and had sent this beautiful bunny to let me know I was not alone.
As I sat in the quiet of the park with the rabbit huddled close to my foot, I thanked God for His kind, gentle way of sending one of His creations to show He was listening — that He cared.
Thank you, God.
