And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
Jesus suffered so much for us. Can we relate to His agony? Only in part as we struggle with both our spiritual and physical struggles. I wanted this painting to depict His suffering for us. Not just in earnest prayer but in agony and loss of blood as he prayed for strength to accomplish what he needed to do.
When I am really ill or needing help, I think of His sacrifice for me. I cannot imagine how he accomplished and finished what He did. I know that through Him, and his infinite and atoning sacrifice I can repent from sin, change, and come unto Him for help.
I wanted this painting to remind us of His great and infinite sacrifice for us.
